Cloudburst: A Jungle Adventure
Cloudburst is a brilliant book about a boy named Jack Courtney who is struggling after his brother dies. When Jack, his family and friends go on a holiday to the Dominican Republic and into the Congo it is a chance to wash away these bad memories. But when his parents disappear it is up to Jack and his friends to find them.
This book is full of adventure, emotion, perseverance and adrenaline. I found it hard to put the book down and finished it within a few days (it would have been faster except I was reading a few books at the same time). This was another recommendation by my school librarians and I was pretty happy to be the very first student to borrow this from our library.
I would give this book to 9 to 13-year-olds because of the slight theme of death and kidnapping but apart from that, it is a brilliantly written book that I really enjoyed. I love some adventure and adrenaline in my stories.
An interesting fact to share with you about the Wilbur Smith Courtney Family series of books. This series spans decades, quite literally, with the first book being published in 1964. There are now so many books about the Courtney Family in Smiths series I cannot name them all here - well I could but we would both be asleep!
I hope that you guys will enjoy this book.
