Harry Potter: A Magical Adventure

Harry Potter. Where do I start?

This 7 book series is one of the bestselling books series of all time. It follows a young boy named Harry who discovers he is a wizard.

He goes to a school for magic, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, and immediately starts to realise the world is against him. Magic, friendship, adventure all fill up these books. What is not to love!?

I would give the first book to a Year 2 kid but then start to give them one per year as they progress. Once they reach about Year 4 I would let them read them all. This is because there is some romance. The violence doesn't really count because it is all magic fights, in my opinion. My mum says the books start out as children's books but end up as teen or young adult fiction. And she says I have to warn you that a child is killed in Book #4, and the books start to get darker and scarier from there. She also says the books are not as scary as the movies, kids imaginations are far less dark than adults and the movies were made by adults for adults.

Harry Potter is a great book series to read and it is one of my favourites of all times - I have lost count of how many times I have read and re-read these books. I. know many people love them as well.

There are heaps of companion books to read as well. Books about Quidditch, Magical Creatures, Beetle the Bard and more. So you can really get immersed in the magical world.

There are also a couple of associated plays/screenplays which have been written - The Cursed Child, Fantastic Beasts & The Crimes of Grindelwald.

And the illustrated versions of the novels are just awesome!
