Sydney Writer's Festival 2021

This blog post is a few months old now - and I meant to post it up the day my brother and sister went to the Sydney Writer's Festival with their school, but somehow it slipped into the Nether and I forgot....

So here is a little synopsis from my sister, Kyah about her trip to the Sydney Writer's Festival back in May.

"Today I got to go to the Sydney Writers Festival with a group of kids from my school and a few teachers.

We met lots of authors, like Emily Rodda, Jessica Townsend, Nat Amore, Kirli Saunders , Andrew McDonald and Ben Wood.

Emily Rodda is a very successful author. She has wrote written over 100 books including The Glimm, Deltora Quest and Rowan of Rin. She’s one of my favourite authors although I have not read many of her books I still think that she is Awesome!👏💕

Jessica Townsend is the author Of Nevermore, Wundersmith and Hollowpox. She loves Dragons🐉, Geese In tuxedos, funny and scary moments, fart Jokes and much more. I haven’t read any of her books but I think she is a very awesome writer and I am going to start reading her books from now on!👏💕

Nat Amore was the host of the event we went to. She is a very funny, loves music and a is a little bit villainy. So that’s why I think that she is awesome!👏💕

Kirli Saunders wrote the book Bindi (which I bought!😀😀😀😀) and inside Bindi is all poetry which is really interesting because I don’t find many books that are just poetry. And the poetry comes in little bits with titles and it’s like chapters but smaller. I’ve discovered after a few poetry pieces that the poems make you say something like “I’ve just read 'Art Class One' a while ago, but now I’m reading 'Art Class Two'”. This is because Kirli likes to connect two pieces of poetry together like two books in the series. This is very cool. So that’s why I think she is one of the most awesome authors. Let’s give her a clap 👏💕

Andrew MacDonald and Ben Wood: These two blokes wrote Real Pigeons. They work together very well and create hilarious books. Real Pigeons is about a group of super-powered crime fighting pigeons! You know that pigeons that you see everywhere? They are called rock pigeons. So Andrew and Ben called the main character in their book 'Rock'. His superpower is that he is the master of disguise. Then we have 'Frillback' pigeon whose superpower is superstrength. There is also 'Tumbler' whose superpower is bendiness. And finally we have our last pigeon 'Homie' he ,like homing pigeons, knows exactly where they’re going and when they’re gonna be there, so he is very important part of the real pigeons crew. He is also totally in love with bread 🥖and hen he sees bread he goes "Om Om Om Om Om Om Om Om Om Om Om!" In the live version at the Sydney writers Festival Nat Amore was the bread thief!🦹🏼‍♀️🥖🦹🏿‍♀️🦹🏼‍♀️

So I think Ben and Andrew are awesome authors!👏💕

That is the end but let’s give all these authors one more huge clap👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
