The Hunger Games is a classic. Your parents probably have watched, if not read it as well. It is a great series of adventure, romance, and good versus evil. The story revolves around the heroine, Katniss Everdeen from District 12, and she is tested to the limit.
Katniss Everdeen lives in the coal-mining District 12. Katniss volunteers to take her sister's place when she is selected to take part in the Hunger Games, the Capitol's horrific game they use to get revenge on the districts that rebelled against them and keep them oppressed and fearful.
The books have some violent very scenes and gruesome descriptions during the Hunger Games which is a fight to the death between teenagers. There is also some mature romantic relationships developed in the story. Due to this, I would definitely not give this to a 9 or 10-year-old to read, but I would probably give it to a mature 11 or 12-year-old to read. I would probably give it an age rating of 11-14 year-olds because of the said content above.
All in all, this is a great book series that a lot of people already enjoy. If you are 11 or 12 and above you should definitely read it. And then when your parents allow it, there are movies to watch as well....I am still waiting for this.
