Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid: The Wimpy Kid Copycat

Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid by Jeff Kinney, is about Rowley Jefferson. Rowley is Greg Heffley's best friend, from the series Diary of a Wimpy Kid. You can read my review of this series in my previous post.

Rowley starts the book about himself but then he shows Greg the diary and Greg gets mad. You see Greg hates it when Rowley copies him. So Greg tells Rowley to turn it into a biography all about Greg. So instead of it being about Rowley it's about Rowley and Greg with a lot more Greg in it. Typical!

My favourite part is when Greg jumps on the table in the public library and starts acting like a chicken. Greg then starts to grunt and when he moves Rowley is aghast to see that he has laid an egg.

I would recommend this book for Wimpy Kid fans, especially if you want to read about some short stories never published before. I would also recommend it for 7-10 year olds that enjoy humour and silly clashes between friends. Similar to Diary of a Wimpy Kid, this book is a mix between easy to read text and funny stick figure type illustrations. It is a great first chapter book for early readers and gives lots of giggles and laughs along the way. My Mum would say there is a lot of "boy humour" in here. I think it isn't just for boys though.

Stay tuned for later books!
